River No. 2 Beach is a white-sand beach on the Western Area Peninsula, a short drive south of Freetown, where the River No. 2 flows down from the peninsula hills to meet the Atlantic Ocean.
The beach is run by a local development association, and tourism income supports the surrounding community. Calm conditions and clean sand have made it one of the best-known beaches in Sierra Leone.
Visitors come to swim, relax, and eat fresh fish at simple beachside stalls. It is a popular family destination at weekends and can be combined with visits to other peninsula beaches.
